MAID (Wedding planner) OF HONOR

DID YOU KNOW THE FIRST WEDDING PLANNERS
TO EVER EXIST WHERE THE MAID OF HONOR???

Yes, as strange as this might sound and reading about the tradition of the Maid of Honor's tasks before and during the wedding when you come to compare it, they were doing the same things wedding planners are doing now a days. In other words, as we all know (and if you don't know you can imagine) weddings are hard work, and the maid of honor became the BRIDE'S "person" to help her out with fresh perspectives about situations.

For example the maid of honor was expected to help the bride with:

  • Attend the catering meetings or tastings and make recommendations.
  • Host the bridal shower.
  • Host the bachelorette party.
  • Scout wedding locations.
  • Maintain timetables and be of general assistance to keep things moving forward.
  • Attend the rehearsal dinner.
  • Keep a list of gifts received.
  • Select invitations and help with invitation prep.
  • Explore floral options and other decorative choices.
  • Help the bride shop for her wedding dress and choose bridesmaids' dresses.
  • Oversee delivery of the dresses, monitor fittings and assist with other wardrobe functions.
  • Encourage the bride to register for gifts, spread the word about where the bride is registered and answer any gift questions that may arise.
  • Help with honeymoon planning.
  • Help with seating chart details.
  • Attend the cake tasting and make recommendations.

ON THE SAME LIST I HAVE HIGHLIGHTED IN RED THE TASKS OF YOUR WEDDING PLANNER.
So now the duties are shared with you planner, your maid of honor can still go with you and do all those things but you have now your Planner to make all this decisions even more easy for you.

According to thefreedictionary.com
matron of honor - a married woman serving as the attendant to the bride at a wedding
attendant, attender, tender - someone who waits on or tends to or attends to the needs of another

With that said we now
move on to the BIG DAY

Your number one task is to keep the bride happy, but among your other tasks you may find:

  • Hold and protect the groom's ring.
(this one is tricky his best man should do it but it makes the bride nervous so you do this too)
    • Handle dress and veil issues.
    • Maneuverability could be important here, even in the restroom, so this is an important and sometimes unexpected duty involving lifting, fluffing, arranging and rearranging.
    • Hold the bride's bouquet for the duration of the wedding ceremony.
    • Witness the marriage license signing.
    • Be part of the receiving line at the reception or act as a greeter.
    • Toast the bride and groom.
    • Participate in the first dance at a formal reception (partnered with the best man).
  • Help the bride dress and deal with her hair, jewelry and the unavoidable wedding day jitters.
  • Check the last minute details, like instructions for the photographer and deliveries to the hall.
  • Act as a messenger between the bride and groom (and various family members).

MY EXPERIENCE AS A MAID OF HONOR / WEDDING PLANNER IN MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING IN GUATEMALA WAS AMAZING. I got to be involved in so many things I can still remember each specific detail. I really think the MAID OF HONOR is an amazing tradition and the role isn't gender specific anymore.
REMEMBER. Your wedding planner is hired for a reason, avoid UNNECESSARY stress to your brides maids and maid of honor you can now split the chores.

the iBride era

Hello and welcome,
I would like to take a moment
to let you know we are now living:

You don´t know what this is?
Well, easy.

You see, today´s bride is much more
informed about wedding related stuff
than any other creature on earth.

She is so prepared that sometimes she
forgets why she hired her wedding planner
in the first place.
The iBride is intelligent,
knows how to bargain and
never settles for anything.

Some call them savvy brides
I call them iBrides.
you can also download wedding podcasts

Their computer skills are amazing,
they will get everything with
the touch of one button.
(I bet your grandmothers dreamed of this day on their wedding)

We are NOW living the future.

So I looked up for some APPS you might
want to have in your iPads or androids
to make your iBride life more easy:

I know there are more APPs and programs
making your wedding experience a "light" one.
So take advantage of the iBride era
and Lets get married!!!

Learning a Wedding Tradition: The Ribbon Bouquet

I JUST LOVE THIS TRADITION! The tradition of creating a ribbon bouquet for the bride at her bridal shower to use at her rehearsal dinner as a stand in bouquet. Each ribbon or bow that was that extra detail on the gifts at the bridal shower is saved for this ribbon bouquet as the bride opens her gifts.
And I only knew about it when we had the Wedding rehearsal of Joe at Secret Jewel Celebrations and she had a funny thing on her hands.
I came near her and said, what is that?
And she just smiled and told me it's my Ribbon Bouquet made from the ribbons on the presents I got on my different Bridal Showers.

Then I just thought I had to share this great idea and this is how I have started the Ribbon Bouquet tradition with my friends. Actually we have just made 2 of them (most of my Friends (the girls) got married before I knew the tradition)
Since in México this is not a tradition we do, I had to have it on my BLOG to give ideas to all those Mexican (or other Country) Brides that can do something different at their Bridal Showers and better Yet give a wedding related activity to that eager aunt or cousin who really wants to help you out with something, have her in charge of your: RIBBON BOUQUET

Now I leave you with Laura Winfree 's Ribbon Bouquet True Story.
It's just so exciting:

I'm an American but I live in Cancun, and married my now - husband Jorge in July 2010.

My entire American family came down to Mexico for the wedding.

My aunts and grandma hosted my bridal shower at their villa in Puerto Morelos (where they were staying),and these ribbons are from that shower. My 2 older sisters made the bouquet and gave it to me on the morning of the wedding, right before the rehearsal. The wedding was at Hacienda Teya in the city of Merida.

I hope you enjoyed reading my Post as much as I enjoyed learning a cool Bridal tradition!

DIAMANT EVENTS in Beach Wedding Design

The story goes this way:

I am friends with a friend of the Bride. In other words a friend of mine from Puebla called me about 4 months ago and told me her Friend Claudia was getting married in Cancun and she needed my help to make this possible.

Civil Ceremony from Bride and Groom's point of view.

So after many changes in decoration, illumination, and other specific details Wedding involved we finally came up with the perfect Design for her Beach Wedding.

She wanted to have a Classic Elegant Wedding but right in front of the ocean and she was very happy when we managed to transform the Beach right in front of Le Meridien Hotel & Spa Cancun where in the morning there was nothing and after the Ceremony in the hotel's Gazebo the Dinner area just shined across the amazing white sand & turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea.

I was honored to be a part of this amazing Wedding.
