Running a Photo shooting in the Butterfly farm

On february this year, I decided it was time to ask my two favorite photographers and friends, Daniela Rangel and Jose Rosales from http://www.sweetcaribbeanphoto.com to help me out with a very artistic proyect:

A PHOTOSHOTING AT THE BUTTERFLY FARM.

The creative mind behind this project was me.

Ever since I started working with the farm in Cancun to provide Butterfly Release services for my clients I´ve been wanting to do this.

And finally we had many butterflies ready and I could call a group of my cute and good looking friends to help me out with the shooting.

HERE SOME OF THE BACK STAGE PICS THAT
DANY & JOSE TOOK of US:

The idea was simple. Take shoots of the 4 stages of the butterfly cycle: egg, caterpillar, pupa and butterfly.

Have kids looking at the butterflies closer, as they can DO with our UNIQUE EDUCATION PROJECT: learning from nature. We go to schools and teach kids about the importance of butterflies in nature, they learn about some of the main species in the area and finally release their butterfly.

This class can be either in english or spanish and its great for kindergarden and elementary school.

My main model was my BEST friend from Norway Solveig Dolen Nesje.
It was her first experience modeling but with my photographers magic lens she turned out to be a SUPER MODEL.

This was an amazing experience, because I´m really used in planning and coordinating weddings and events, but a photo shooting is something else we worked from 9am to 5pm and it was really worth
it!!!

I have many projects like this that I´ve done along the way, I will be sharing them One STEP at a TIME.

AUSTRALIA meets the Riviera Maya: CHIO+JAMES a love from down under

Chio + her Dad before walking down the isle...

AMAZING CATERING SERVICE

It was a cloudy saturday afternoon on June 4th, 2011. The Venue was getting ready to Host another amazing DESTINATION WEDDING.

In this occasion the girls from http://www.utopik.com.mx/ made their magic by making the venue look 100 times more spectacular than usual.
The secret: Wooden floor to cover the sand.
The bride choose orange, pink and yellow as her main colors, to make a certain contrast with the blue turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea.

It was 10 am and everything was getting set UP.
everyone working (including me) like ants to make sure we have everything ready before 430pm.

The table setup had no linens, only plate mats placed under each guests plate.
THIS PHOTO OF COURSE IS ON MY FAVORITE SPOT our ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE sign

I am always during the set up and during the wedding taking shots of everything I might need for my BLOG.

You see I don´t want you to miss a thing. This is how I got this shot from the photographers of the wedding, Chio + James hired http://www.victorherrera.com.mx/

THIS IS A NICE SHOT of the "grooms" photo session before the ceremony starts.

Everyone was ready way ahead of time, the UTOPIK events team really worked hard on every detail for this wedding.

THIS PAPARAZZI shot I took at Tanya Sesma
(one of the wedding coordinators at Utopik)
while giving instructions to one of the guests before the ceremony starts.

Here in another PAPARAZZI shot I catch their florist working out her magic. Thank you Lucy.

And so the ceremony begins. Father Patrick, did a very lovely Catholic ceremony both in english and spanish. For there were guests from mexico (bride) and guests from UK & Australia (groom)

HERE I SPOTED THE EXACT MOMENTO WHERE FATHER PATRICK L.C. IS GIVING THE BLESSINGS TO THE NEWLY WEDS.

And after the Ceremony it was time for the cocktails, they were served at the PALAPA at first because there was a slight rain at that moment. But it went away in minutes and then everyone could go out to the beach on the lounge area.

AND THEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE SKY LANTERNS!!!!!
so everyone started lighting them up and making wishes and they flew wonderfully into the sunset!!!!

THIS WAS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENT!!!
This time I wont talk about every little detail like the first dance, the menu or the souvenirs the Bride+Groom gave to all their guests.

I want to talk about the professional talent Tanya & Ale have to handle a wedding with so much stress involved and how even when it rained at times, and people had to go to the palapa and then come out again ... everything went perfect!!!
THIS IS FOR SURE ONE OF THE MOST ELEGANT WEDDINGS WEVE HAD SO FAR IN OUR VENUE... thank you girls great job!!!!!

LOVE is not an option is a MUST.

We live a busy life, a fast life.. no time to slow down and take a closer look at lifes little details.

So today I just thought I might slow down a bit and take some time off my busy life to write about something we all have in common and we normally take for granted, we all need to be loved.

In my world its not just a feeling its a basic human necessity, the one that reminds you on a rainy afternoon, about when you where a kid and a thunder scared you to death; how just
big bear hug from your dad meant everything was going to be all right.

When a sudden smell takes you away to that first kiss and how you felt butterflies on your stomach when you saw the crush of your life walk by.

BUT IN A BUSY WORLD WE TAKE FEELINGS FOR GRANTED.

Technology brings us closer (if you are far away) but at the same time pushes us further away (if you are close).

What I really want to say is, now we can hug, kiss and poke with our iphones, blackberries and other devices, this is so cool when you live in different countries and different cities; internet, mailing and everything we have makes communication a lot easier, and long distnace relationships become a more popular subject in conversations now a days.

BUT WHAT ABOUT, when we live in the same town, blocks away from each other. We no longer call over the phone and spend hours at night hearing the sweet tone of his or her voice telling us stories or jokes and OMG laughs NOW all I do is imagine how that hahahahaha sounds like, or how that LOL should look like on the person that is writing it.

I mean it people, everyone needs LOVE (even animals) from their friends, parents, significant others, pets, what ever makes you happy .. but come on the real deal the one I was used to as I grew up, when you held hands for real, hugged (and I mean squeezed) your friends and listen to what other people have to say with your ears not your mind (while reading a text).

I just want to start the week by letting you know how much a real smile, not in text :) BUT FOR REAL one person smiling to the other for no apparent reason can change that day for a person.

DO IT, SOME PEOPLE WILL GET SCARED BECAUSE THEY WILL LOOK AT US LIKE CRAZY PERSONS but it is worth it if we all give our little share of giving back the world what technology has slowly taken from us ...

just a thought and wanted to put it out there, always happy to read your opinions, please feel free to comment below.

I LOVE LOVE
(real love)

CURIOUS FACTS ABOUT WEDDING MYTHS

This is exactly how last night I was remembering with my sister Nico some of the curious and fun stuff behind wedding myths and legends that I learned once in my Weddings Beautiful World Wide Wedding Planner´s Certification.

Of course I couldn´t remember all of them, the symbols and myths can change from country to country and they are almost the same but the cultures quite have their own ways of having costumes from their natives.

So I go on line and find these amazing article written by Chris Hawkins from http://basingstokeweddings.com/2008/11/wedding-myths-and-symbols/
were I take some of my favorite myths and share them here with others that I know from my familly and culture.

I will complete with some of my DESTINATION WEDDING MEXICAN TIPS.

1st of all I found out that there is a rhyme that tells how choosing the wrong day can affect you lives:

Monday for health,

Tuesday for wealth,

Wednesday´s the bes of all.

Thursday brings crosses,

And Friday Losses,

But Saturday - no luck at all.

ANOTHER LUCKY ADVICE FOR THE SOON TO BE MARRIED:

It is good luck for the groom not to see the dress before the wedding day. It will bring more luck if he does not glance at the dress as the bride walks down the aisle. (of course this superstition is crazy and impossible the best moment is when the bride is walking down the isle, I JUST LOVE TO TAKE PHOTOS OF THE FACE OF THE GROOM on that very moment)

MOVING ON TO THE NEXT SUBJECT:

Jewellery as expected has a number of myths linked to it. To some, pearls represent future tears and are a bad sign. However, to others, the wearing of pearls takes the place of the bride’s real tears, thus she’ll have a happy, tear-free wedded life. (My mom says pearls=TEARS, so no pearls for us in the family weddings)

The wedding veil is thought to hide the bride’s beauty and wards off evil spirits. Another explanation is that during the times of arranged marriages the bride’s face would be covered until the groom had committed to the marriage. ( This could be either romantic of frightening)

On the day itself, there are many things to remember if your courting good luck on your wedding day.

The most famous (my favorite) saying dates back to Victorian times and the full version:

"something old, something new, something borrowed,

something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe"

Something old, represents the link with the bride’s family and the past. A common solution many bride’s choose is to wear a piece of family jewellery or their mother´s.

Something borrowed, is to remind the bride that friends and family will be there for her when help is needed. The borrowed object might be something such as a lace handkerchief or an item of jewellery.other’s or grandmother’s wedding dress.

Something new, is for good fortune and success in the bride’s new life. The wedding dress is often chosen as the new item.

Something blue, symbolises faithfulness and loyalty and dates back to biblical times when blue represented purity. Frequently the bride’s garter is the blue item.

And lastly the “silver sixpence in her shoe” is to wish the bride wealth, both financial and

happiness. You can still find Silver sixpences for a few pounds, but modern brides have resorted to penny’s and don’t seem to have fallen foul yet. With modern shoes its getting harder to put a coin into them in a way that stops them falling out seconds afterwards, I always put a drop of glue to my brides and then just take it out after the ceremony. (only if you bring one with you)

Then there is the rings, much can be written about them, but for now there is a contradictory wedding myth. The positive myth is that dropping the wedding ring during the ceremony shakes out the evil spirits.

The negative aspect, is that whoever drops the ring is said to be the first to die.

Confetti has replaced rice or grain. After the ceremony

the rice was thrown at the bride and groom to encourage fertility.

The throwing of the wedding bouquet was introduced from North America and it is said that who ever catches the bouquet will be next to be married. (so not true) I have caught it twice and have yet not gotten married (LOL).

Wedding gifts are bought by the guests have replaced the custom of bringing fruits that used to encourage fertility.

The tradition of giving guests something to remember the day by in the form of favours has been around for hundreds of years.

Today, the tradition has evolved to giving each guest five sugar coated almonds to symbolise health, wealth, fertility, happiness and long-life.

Carrying the bride over the threshold protects her from any evil spirits that may be lurking in the new home.

BEACH DESTINATION (mexican) WEDDING interesting facts by Ilse Diamant.

1. If you have your ceremony in MEXICO be sure to have your
florist make you 3 BOUQUETS:
  • For the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe at the end of the religious Ceremony as a symbol of gratefulness
  • To toss the bouquet for a lucky single lady to be the next in line for marriage
  • The brides bouquet for her photos and to walk down the isle.
Another thing you need to have in mind is the TORNABODA (after hours lunch break)
WE love to have "chilaquiles", or "tortas" and tacos of "cochinita" around 1am, to sober the party down a bit and be sure everyone leaves safe ´n sound.

My mom is telling me tales about her hometown Oaxaca and their traditions and this one funny (mom with all your respect) she told me the Groom goes to the house of the parents of the bride with a big TRUNK or CHEST and the mom puts all the belongings of the bride in their symbolizing that she is now leaving the parents home to go to her husbands. (this is very old and of course modern times have forgotten some traditions)

The last one for now would be the TOSSING of the GROOM (personally I don't like it at all) This is the part were the friends for the groom take him like if he was a rock star and start trowing him in the air and the bride feels they will trow
him to the floor, OMG I get so nervous with this one (and so does the brides). And after that he takes the BAND out of the BRIDES leg (sexy music plays) and he tosses the band who ever catches the band will be the next single guy to tie the knot.

This last part is very funny usually girls fight over the bouquet and guys scape from the band.

SO ON YOUR DESTINATION WEDDING BE SURE TO ASK YOUR WEDDING SPECIALIST ABOUT ANY LUCKY WEDDING MYTHS AND LEGENDS IN THE AREA SO YOU CAN HAVE ONE OF THEM IN THERE TOO AS A LOCAL.

Regardless of your believes, this costumes all around the world give weddings a mystical touch and makes BRIDES really want to have any extra luck on that very special day!!!

QUE VIVAN LOS NOVIOS!!!
